Heating it up at a BBQ Contest

bbq contestPlease note that this is my very first cook-off in 105degree with a feel like it at 115 degree, my shelter fell after a 20mph wind came threw and it blew it away, any and all covering I had was gone. My wife and youngest son sweating and ready to commit mutiny. They were thinking that I could continue to cook while they take a taxi to a nice cool hotel room, then showup for awards the next day. After 7:30pm everyone was so nice and happy go lucky, my wife and I almost forgot all that has happened until the next day when it was a blistering 115 degree with a feel like of 120degree with no shade. My point is that with good people like you we can endure almost anything. Thanks Bill.

BBQ Videos?

My name is Bruce McClellan and approximately 4 years ago I ordered your Competition BBQ Secrets book and it has become my holy grail for making awesome BBQ for my family and friends. My wife and I now have enough confidence in our abilities thanks to you that in the spring we plan to compete in our first BBQ competition. My question for you is has your books content changed any since I bought my book if so please let me know so that I can determine if I need to order a new book. Sincerely yours. Bruce

Money muscle

Dear Mr Anderson:

Thank you, I received it yesterday and have already read it completely twice. I do have a question though. On the Pork Butt, how do you tell which muscle is the “Money Muscle”? I heard the term and did not know how to find it if their is such a thing. Thank you again for a wonderful book. Based on your suggestions I will definitely be making some positive changes.

Sincerely
Michael

How to start BBQ competitions

Hi Bill,

As you can see below I subscribed to your newsletter, and upon further investigation of your website ordered your book as well. I have enjoyed backyard BBQ and occasionally cooking for family and friends at small events over the past few years but I’m ready to take the next step and start entering some competitions for fun. My only venture Continue reading

Reserve Grand for book reader

Bill,I would like to see your vidios monthly&have tryed to do it on line but it wouldent let me.I bought your bbq book on line last year and I guess I dont have the right information to get back on your site.My 1st cook off was last year in september,87 teams and I won 1st in brisket and res grand.Im known for my ribs but didn’t place in the top 8.But I must have been up there in ribs&chicken to win res.The rules are different here, meats are chicken halves, spair ribs & brisket. No garnish,no gas.Every thing has to be cooked over fire.

6th place for Border War Smokers

Bill,

Congrats on your Dillard GC! That’s awesome.

We did OK with 6th overall at Racing for the BBQ in KC last weekend. 3rd in chicken and 7th in pork, but we thought ribs and brisket were better.

I need to go back and watch the H&F brisket video again to make sure I’m not missing something. We’ve been really good or really mediocre this year with brisket. Considering the strides we’ve made in chicken this year, I’ve not been happy with brisket overall.

Next up for us is Emporia KS, 8/20-21.
